SNOW YOGA
Yoga for Skiers & Snowboarders
As a surfer and snowboarder, I understand exactly how important yoga is to performing well on the mountains and in the ocean.
I've designed specific yoga classes for skiers and snowboarders to help you find more strength specific to snowsports, greater mobility and flexibility plus help cultivate a clearer mind.

What are the benefits of practising yoga for skiers and snowboarders?
One of the most important pieces of advice I was ever told is - when you feel the need to speed up, slow down.
It's so true when it comes to skiing and snowboarding, especially if you are training hard to get your body into shape for the coming winter season or just want to be ready for your next ski/snowboarding holiday.
While strength building is incredibly important to your performance on the hill, it's also important to slow down and take the time to stretch out those muscles.
So what are the benefits of practising yoga for skiers and snowboarders? Here are just a few:
- Strengthen weak muscles to protect joints, especially knees and ankles
- Increase mobility and flexibility in lower body to prevent injury
- Even out muscular imbalances
- Focus on engaging core muscles
- Improve balance
- Increase concentration
- Enable you to ski/snowboard into old age
When you are skiing and snowboarding, you are constantly shortening the quadricep muscles and hip flexors, which means they need lengthening and stretching when you are off the hill.
Having tight muscles is like having a tight elastic band. If your muscles are constantly tight, a sudden jolt could cause injury or a tear in the muscle tissue. By stretching and lengthening your muscles - like an elastic band - they become soft, supple and less prone to injury.
Whether you are a top ski instructor or you are new to the sport, yoga is a great complimentary exercise to skiing and snowboarding.
